Solar Light Tubes

What are they?

Get a bit of sunshine in your house and make the best use of dead loft space by letting natural light in from the roof and feeding it through a pipe directly into your bathroom, hallway or bedrooms.

What’s the benefit?

The best feature of these solar lighting kits is that you get natural light as opposed to superficial light, thus instantly saving on electricity bills. You can also get kits that have solar powered vents attached to the tubing so that you can ventilate your house without using any extra power.

Answers to frequently asked questions:

1. Are they suitable for my home?

These kits are easy to install and can be fitted in most properties. They are recommended to be installed on the top floor of a building, but can be installed on lower floors as long as there is room to install the reflective tubing that carries the sunlight to the desired spot.

2. Do I need planning permission?

It depends on your area and location as to whether or not you will need planning permission. It is best to check with your local planning permission office before installation. You will need to send your full address, drawings of any refurbishment work or good quality photographs of the area where the solatube will be installed.

3. Are there any grants available?

Unfortunately there are no grants that cover solar tubes in this country at the moment.
